Bridal Makeup And Hair Tips

Here at Star Event Trailers mobile bridal suites in Portland, we have a lot of experience with brides and bridal parties getting ready for the big event! Here are our top tips for bridal makeup and hair.

We recommend brides look through makeup inspirations prior to their wedding day to make sure they have the details worked out, or references to let the bridal makeup artist know what you have in mind. Pinterest is a great place to find photographs and ideas! You may want to consult several different makeup artists in the months prior to your wedding to make sure you have products and a style in mind for your wedding day makeup. Take some photos to be sure you like the way the finished makeup looks.

Be sure to allow for sufficient time to get your hair and makeup done. Build in a little extra time to keep from stressing and rushing. We typically allow 30-45 minutes per bridesmaid, and 60-90 minutes for the bride, but it’s always a good idea to add some extra time in to give you plenty of breathing room.  Use waterproof makeup to avoid smears, running mascara, or makeup smudges.

It’s a good idea to establish who gets ready first. Typically, the bride will finish getting ready last, and doesn’t put her dress on until her hair and makeup is finished. Touch ups or style changes can always be done after the fact, and you can ask a bridesmaid to keep some essentials for you to keep your makeup fresh. Lipstick, powder or blotting papers, concealer and a brow brush are great to have on hand for photographs, and after toasts and kisses.

Another important consideration is who pays for what. Sometimes the bride pays for everyone to have their hair and makeup done professionally. Other times bridesmaids are responsible for paying their own costs. A variation where the bride pays for makeup only or hair only is an option, and some bridesmaids will prefer to do their own. It is important everybody understands who is paying for what, including makeup and hair products.

With regard to products, you’ll want your skin to shine through your makeup, which involves a light hand with base makeup and strategic layering of products. For example, application of cream blush followed by powder blush in the same shade provides more impact and longer wear. Concealer is crucial, topped with foundation powder to cover any dark areas under eyes or imperfections.

Make sure there are sufficient outlets where the bridal party gets ready for phone chargers, appliances, or whatever you and your party need. Our mobile bridal boutiques have numerous outlets and USB ports, enough for everybody to be able to take pictures on their phone to commemorate the big day and keep the family updated.

Lastly, remember to tip your stylist, and take a moment to enjoy with your bridesmaids. This is YOUR big day! If you are looking for a mobile wedding trailer rental for private space to get ready, do touch ups, or take a break, we offer mobile bridal trailers in the Portland, Oregon area.
